Beginning from the 10th October 2019, Motorola are rolling out their new Essential Services model for managing warranties and firmware updates for their range of two-way radios.
This is part of Motorola's push towards ensuring their customers get the most out of their two-way radios, by ensuring they are always updated with the latest and greatest firmware.
Currently when you buy a new radio, you are only covered for the next two years under warranty, but with the new Essential Services model, you will be covered for the next five years. The base package includes access to the latest firmware, 8x5 Escalated Remote Technical Support, cover for Normal Wear and Tear as well as two way shipping on any repairs.
Staying current with the latest updates protects and enhances operations to extend the lifespan of your MOTOTRBO two-way radios. Invest in planned updates to minimise unforeseen costs and service disruptions. This will also mean you have access to new features as they are developed and will expand your capabilities beyond voice for increased productivity, reliability and safety.
So, what does this mean for you? Will it change the way you use your Motorola two-way radios?
If you purchased your radio in the last three months, you will be able to upgrade to Essential Services for a one-time payment of $120 through Mobicomm. This will mean your radio will be covered through Essential Services for the next five years. The base package includes access to the latest firmware, 8x5 Escalated Remote Technical Support, cover for Normal Wear and Tear as well as two way shipping on any repairs.
If you purchased your radio longer than three months ago, it may still be eligible for the Essential Lite package, which includes access to the latest firmware for your radio as well as 8x5 Escalated Remote Technical Support. This will extend for three years from the time of purchasing, and will be able to be renewed again at the end of that period.
